主要从事乳酸菌等益生菌产生的生物活性物质如细菌素的生物合成、代谢调控、作用机制、结构功能等研究; 乳酸菌的益生分子机制研究; 功能乳酸菌在人体肠道及生殖道健康、生态农业及发酵食品等领域的微生物组研究及应用基础研究等。
