TWAS FellowsVisit CAS-TWAS Centre of Excellence for Emerging Infectious Disease (CEEID)
From October 12th to 18th, 2024, esteemed Brazilian Fellows of TWAS, Professor Patricia T. Bozza and Professor Antonio Carlos Campos de Carvalho, accompanied by Dr. Andre de Vasconcelos Costa Lobato, Presidency Advisor at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, and Dr. Vanderson de Souza Sampaio, Director of Operations at the Institute of All for Health (ITpS), visited the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, upon the invitation of CEEID.
During the visit, CEEID successfully hosted three forums: "Immunometabolic Functions of Lipid Droplets in Host-Pathogen Interactions," "Modeling Cardiac Disease Using Isogenic Human-Derived IPS-Cardiomyocytes," and "Genomic Surveillance and Pathogen Monitoring: Safeguarding Brazil's Wildlife and Indigenous Communities." The forums drew the interest of over 40 researchers, scholars, and students from related fields.
The visit significantly advanced collaborations between CEEID, Fiocruz, and ITpS in crucial areas, including virus tracing, drug target research, joint monitoring of viral mutations, and vaccine development, strengthening the bonds of friendship between China and Brazil.
