Sino-Russian academic conference of COVID was successfully held
To implement the “Belt and Road” initiative and strengthened cooperation, Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) initiated, and jointly held the Sino-Russian academic conference of COVID on July 7th via network video with Mychnikov Institute of Vaccine and Sera, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Russian Ministry of Health, and Ivanovsky Institute of Virology.
Academician Gao Fu, the researcher at the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and academician Vitaly V.Zverev, the research at the Mechnikov Research Institute of Vaccines and Sera co-chaired the conference. More than 30 experts from the host units, Savaid Medical School of University of CAS, Wuhan Institute of Virology of CAS, National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Preventation of China CDC, Influenza research and early warning center of CAS, and CAS-TWAS Centre of Excellence for Emerging Infectious Disease (CEEID) joined the conference discussions.
Experts from China and Russia all highlighted the importance of international efforts in combatting COVID. Bilateral cooperation will proceed in the development of medicines and vaccines, graduate education, and scientific research data and information sharing in order to jointly tackle the emerging infectious diseases.
The successful hosting of the Sino-Russian conference promote the exchange of research progress and put forward future cooperation. With the joint efforts from both sides, Sino-Russian conference is expected to be established as an active academic exchange platform to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation for fighting the pandemics, as well as laid the foundation for the Sino-Russian Scientific and Technological Innovation Year.
